Sense and Sensibility

Last night I finished reading Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. I. Love. Jane. Austen. To me, this book was almost as good as Pride and Prejudice. What I love most about her books are her strong, female protagonists, especially considering the time period and the lack of certain freedoms for women. They're intelligent and eloquent, and in these ways can be considered role models for girls today. Jane Austen herself is one too, as she chose a career path which, at that time, was not considered an appropriate choice for a woman. Whoo!

There are also times when I think it would be awesome to go to a ball like the ones that so often occur in Austen's stories. : )

There are also two really good film versions of the book, one from the BBC that's been featured on PBS, and one starring Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Kate Winslet, and Hugh Grant. Check out both of them!
