after all that...all i got was an iced mocha

Saturday's goal was to buy my textbooks for fall semester. At first, this whole event just annoyed the hell out of me. Then I found it amusing. Now I just find it stupid. But I'll tell it anyway. We (my parents and I) first went to the bookstore on State. Thought it would be the same one my brother goes to, maybe both schools just use the same bookstore. Well. They had nothing for me there. And my big clue should have been the fact that they were not selling any Loyola merchandise. So we drive up to the one on Sheridan. This should have worked out, except that due to summer hours, they were closed. Blah. I was only slightly irritated by this point. I then decided that we should go back to the loop so I could check out the library and apply for a job, but upon arriving there, discovered that the library was also closed. By then, I was pissed. (I also haven't been my usual self lately, so that I'm sure contributed to it as well. But anyway. This blog was not meant to be a therapy session for me, so I'll stop there.) So we gave up on anything having to do with grad school and went to Starbucks. Drove all over the city, and went to a Starbucks. And upon looking up the bookstore online once we got home, we discovered that the correct bookstore is on north State, not south State. Duh. Duh again. Anyway. I ordered the books today so all I have to do is pick them up. (We did go to Elephant & Castle for lunch before the textbook fiasco, so I guess we did get more out of it than coffee. But still.) Enough of that. Oh yes. My dad provided a funny quote that day: "Madison and State is the nexus of the universe." haha

I rented "The Libertine" and "Center Stage" this weekend. I really liked both. "The Libertine" was a cool story. I liked the music, and the colors were dulled, which I thought fit the dark tones of the story very well, and is something that I haven't seen very often in movies. Modern movies, at any rate. "Center Stage" was very enjoyable. It follows a group of friends at a ballet academy, so of course, by the end, I found myself wishing that I was a ballet dancer, as I do whenever I see ballet. But I discussed that in a very recent entry, so I won't revisit the topic again. (At least not right now. I'm sure it will come up again in the future, however. lol)

Been working a lot, still reading "The Queen's Fool", recently finished the August issue of National Geographic, have sort of been practicing "Spring" and "Summer" just for the hell of it, haven't been editing my book AT ALL, thus causing some disappointment in myself, though I guess I should be happy that I at least finished a first draft. I'd like to do as much of it as I can before I start school and whatever else I may be doing after the summer.

Well. That seems to be a sufficient entry for now. Off to read.
