I start grad school a week from tomorrow. Orientation is on Wednesday. Still have a few books to get that I couldn't order online, need my ID and my passes for the train/bus...but I'm ready to start school again. It does feel weird, though, to not be going back to U of I. :-( Good old CU...*sniff sniff*. Oh well. I have a feeling Loyola will be quite awesome, though. And the beginning of school means it's almost fall, my favorite season! (Unless we're talking Vivaldi seasons...in which case my favorite would be summer...) I love it when it starts getting dark earlier and earlier and when the leaves start to turn and it gets cooler out...yay!
Friday night Dana and I went to see the Goo Goo Dolls and the Counting Crows at Tweeter Center (or First Midwest Bank Ampitheater...whatever they've decided to call it now), and it KICKED SOME MAJOR ASS. The opener was Eliot Morris, who I liked so much that I went out yesterday and bought his cd. Then the GGDs came on, and this was the fourth time that I've seen them. (what can I say, they're my favorite) It was fucking awesome. I regret that I hadn't listened to their latest cd more before the concert, because I didn't know a lot of the words to the new songs, but whatever. Counting Crows played last, and they rocked as well. They ended (well, not really, since they did an encore) with "Hangin' Around", which I hadn't listened to in a long time and this live performance was great. So good. Everybody was dancing. lol It was a lot of fun, and I needed some cheering up.
Then we forgot where we parked, and when the concert ended it was pouring, so Dana and I got completely soaked while wandering around the parking lot looking for her car...and eventually (this sounds so nerdy, but I found it hilarious) my glasses were too rain-spattered for me to see out of them, and my shirt was too wet for me to dry them off...so I took them off, and then of course was completely useless in helping Dana find the car. Couldn't see a damn thing. lol She's looking all over, I'm squinting to try and help her look...and finally she found it. lol We were then going to go find some food but it was raining so hard that she couldn't see the lines on the road so we pulled into a gas station and got some snacks, aka dinner. We hung out there for about 10 or 15 minutes while the rain let up a little so that we could drive. Fun times. lol
Anyway. That's about all I've got for now. One more week...
