This past weekend I finally got around to watching The Other Boleyn Girl, from Netflix, and which had been sitting on my desk for at least a month. I have to admit, I did not like it as much as I thought I would. I knew it had gotten mixed reviews when it was released, but wanted to check it out for myself anyway. It was entertaining enough, but I'm so glad I had already read the book by Philippa Gregory (which is amazing!) because so many of the details were left out of the movie; enough that I think someone who hasn't read the book might be a little lost. I will say that the costumes were beautiful and the music wasn't bad either. My one suggestion would be to read the book before watching the movie.
I was also able to catch a screening of The Kids Are Alright, which I found to be absolutely hilarious and realistic. All the little awkward moments (some were less little than others) were well-placed and are part of what makes the movie so good. There should be more films like this.
