Poetry Marathon

Due to power outages both at home and at work, I had a lot of free time on my hands yesterday. I read my entire way through Garrison Keillor's Good Poems. Most of them really were very good. I've been trying to read more poetry and had taken the book out from the library on a whim, and have now decided to purchase a copy so I have constant access to all the fabulous poems contained in it! They're grouped into fourteen sections, if I remember correctly, and do cover a range of emotions. Quite a few had me laughing out loud, which was great on a day with not much else going on, due to current society's constant relying on technology and electricity. ;-) I think there's something in this collection for everyone--there are pieces from Shakespeare and Dickinson and other familiar names, but a good amount from more contemporary poets as well. It's also a great way to start reading poetry if you haven't already. : )
