So. Grad school starts tomorrow! Whoo! Got two classes in the late afternoon/evening, and still need to pick up my CTA pass, see if my last two textsbooks are at the bookstore, and turn in my job application for the library. I'm also trying to get involved in some research and am already contemplating going beyond my masters degree. I'll have to have a meeting with my advisor. Maybe not right away, though. lol I should probably get going with fall semester first.
My uncle from SanFrancisco is visiting for the weekend (well, through Tuesday), so the past few days have been filled with lots of family stuff. We threw a pizza party together at our house in about 30 minutes on Friday night, and made dinner for everyone (almost everyone) last night. One of my contributions was a peanut butter pie which ended up being more like peanut butter goop. The recipe failed to mention what to do with the pie after pouring the filling into the pie pan...the two obvious choices were the fridge or the freezer. I opted for the former, when I should have chosen the latter. At least now I know for next time. I haven't done so well with pies, now that I think about it. Anyway...my cousin Anthony loves to chase my dog Titan around, so after doing that two nights in a row, my doggie is quite tired. (He's not exactly a puppy anymore.) Today my brother and I went to Johnnie's for beef sandwiches with two of our uncles and then picked up some Italian pastries from Vesuvio (which were good, but I like Domino's Italian Bakery better) and then most of us came over to my grandpa's house to eat them. So it was a pretty chill day.
Hmm...Thursday night David and I hung out downtown for a while...dinner at Corner Bakery, awesome dessert and coffee at Un Bon Pain (try the orange scones!!), went to the Art Institute because they still have free hours at night in the summer...I wanted to see the exhibit on the Ancient American Southwest, but it had already left the museum...but we did see a really cool photography exhibit. Wandered around a little more, and then met Aaron at Elephant and Castle for a drink. Fun times.
Thursday morning was also quite dark and rainy. Should have been cooler out though...would have felt more like fall. :-P
