ballet and movies

My posts seem to be coming less and less often. Just how it goes.

I saw ABT's production of "Romeo and Juliet" on Sunday. GORGEOUS. I especially love the music in the last scene. It's very dramatic, (almost too dramatic), but I love it. And Prokofiev isn't my most favorite of composers. The dancing was beautiful, as well as the set and the costumes. So. Yes. I loved it.

Three good movies:

"The Illusionist"--awesome story, very cool movie. Philip Glass wrote the music, and it was so beautiful. The color palette was interesting too...almost like the sepia tones used in "The Libertine", but more golden. It really set a mood. Quite artistic.

"The Last Kiss"--More true to life than I had expected. For some reason I thought it was going to be an easygoing, goofy romantic comedy (which I also enjoy), but it was really quite serious. Zach Braff is awesome.

"House of Flying Daggers"--another very cool story, with some really pretty music at times. It was in the martial arts section, so I was thinking it might be a little over the top with those kind of scenes, but they were all really cool.

Short and sweet. Just the way I like it.
