I thought I'd try to post something more than once a month...so here goes...
Class tonight seemed to prove just how anxious and occasionally irritable the end of this semester has made me, and I don't like it. We had to write a short review of a reference book (and by short, I do mean short...this was obviously just practice) and all I could focus on was how I don't usually write short pieces and the fact that I will often labor over every word. I was mentally flipping out, and I HATE when I do that, especially over something so silly. Ugh. There are only a few weeks left of the semester, and I am immensely glad.
Was that even worth complaining about? Probably not. I shall move on to other topics...
I attempted to be somewhat healthy with dinner today after class by going to Jimmy John's for a veggie sub. (Yes, there's mayo and provolone on there, but really, there are much worse things out there.) As luck would have it, however, they were closed. (At 9:20? Really? Come on...) I therefore gave up on health and went over to Nonno's for a wonderful, greasy, slice of pepperoni pizza that had probably been slowly rotating under the heat lamp for at least a few hours. Delicious. I love Nonno's. (I'm probably exaggerating about the heat lamp...)
Classes for spring semester are as follows: Management on Thursday night, and Public Libraries on Monday night. I'm on the waitlist for an Internet Fundamentals course, but those first two took priority. I think it'll be good to have Wednesday as a break in the middle of the week, and I can still go to rehearsal on Tuesday! Whoo! (I checked out the rest of our season online...I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!)
Speaking of orchestra, our first chamber concert was this past Sunday. In all honesty, I can say that (at least in the year and a half that I've been with them) this was one of our best concerts. Not only the program (which was gorgeous), but as a group I thought we performed really well. The Bach (Brandenburg 5), especially the flute, violin and harpsichord combo (yes, that's right, I said combo) was so pretty. Mozart's 25th was energetic and might have surpassed the Haffner as my favorite Mozart symphony. Crisantemi (Puccini) was beautiful (and I still need to get a recording!), and Vivaldi's Gloria with our chorus was just amazing. I love my ensembles!!!
*ahem* Done bragging now...;-)
I finally finished the short story I had been working on for the Writer's Digest contest and submitted it last night! *crosses fingers*
And to close...
...it gets dark at 4:30. Bare tree branches against a dimming overcast sky are eerily beautiful.
It's rather poetic, don't you think?
