Down the rabbit hole...

On Sunday I was able to catch a showing of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland with some friends. Whoa. Definitely not the same Wonderland of my childhood! I enjoyed it, but all the visual stimuli that defines many Tim Burton movies left my eyes a little tired. Even so, the visual aspects of the film were outstanding, with the music coming in at a close second. (I regret to say that I neglected to watch the credits for the composer of the score, something I always do when a movie has good original music.) I did like the new take on the story, and actually want to dig out my copy of the book from years ago and re-read the original story. I also still have, somewhere, an old movie of the story (not the Disney version) that is actually pretty trippy, as I realized after watching it a few years ago. I don't remember what prompted me to watch it but after I did I found myself wondering how I made it through that version as a child. It was ridiculous. Go see the new one. It's worth a look.
