Lost in the Jungle
I recently finished reading Amy Tan's Saving Fish From Drowning. What a cool book! I really loved the story; thought it was very interesting and different from most things I've read. Amy Tan is a wonderful author, and the voice she gave to the narrator of this book was so vivid and blunt and gave so much life to the story. It does take a good look at human nature and how people act in times of crisis, and I really enjoyed that psychological perspective of it. Not only that, but there's also a lot here about cultural differences--learning about and learning from a culture vastly different from your own, and I really like that. I thought the characters were very relatable and realistic; nothing felt forced or over-the-top, and you want them to overcome their problems and have their happy endings. All in all, a great read!
